About Us
As you read on the front page, MomShare is a Pay It Forward type community. Why was MomShare started? It was started because we saw a need. Our founder can explain it best...
"I started MomShare because I saw a woman post on a public forum about not having diapers or formula for her baby. She used a maxi-pad for a diaper. The woman was on assistance, but her sister had taken the few things her baby did have.
I work full-time in a professional career; I am married and 40 years old. I still need to save money in these times. My husband has been on unemployment. In this economy, construction isn’t going so well. I had problems with my pregnancy and was off longer than anticipated. We were struggling, but I could still help. I had diapers and formula in the closet that no longer fit my daughter’s needs.
I started MomShare in January 2011. I asked for clothes for our baby, because I really couldn’t afford any. I received a generous supply of them from a loving mother. I asked for formula coupons, and what a difference the help has made! Our daughter goes through two cans every two weeks and, at $22 a can, $5 to $12 off is a Godsend!
I have donated clothes and coupons also. It humbles me and lifts my heart to help someone else, to know that other “middle class” moms like me need and appreciate the help. I can’t believe all of the loving mothers who are here and have helped. I am truly blessed to have been helped, and also to have seen that other moms want to pay it forward.
MomShare isn’t charity. It is moms helping moms. Some days each of us needs help. Some days each of us can be the ones to help. It all comes around."
